In Pursuit of a Vision > Case 8 > Adomeit > St. George Juvenile

The Details:

Joseph Wetherbee Carpenter, ed. The St. George Juvenile. St. George, Utah Territory, December 15, 1868.

Gift of Ruth E. Adomeit, ca. 1995.

The Story:

Ruth Adomeit’s interest in juvenile print culture was not only passionate, but wonderfully eclectic. One of the most unusual items she owned is this first number of an amateur newspaper issued in the Utah Territory.  The newspaper’s fifteen-year-old editor published his paper for approximately three years and included poetry, maxims, and local advertisements in each issue.
