Bequest of Thomas W. Streeter, 1970.

The Story:

Thomas W. Streeter was not simply a collector; he also recorded his bibliographic and scholarly knowledge in eighty-seven volumes (all at AAS) describing 4,848 books, pamphlets, broadsides, newspapers, and maps from his collections. Shown here is part of Streeter’s entry for the 1649 “Cambridge Platform,” which sold for $80,000—the highest realization at the second Streeter sale in 1967.
