The Story:
Nichols’s interests in Thomas imprints and Mother Goose merged in this only known copy of the third Worcester edition. Thomas’s editions are noted for plentiful woodcuts, uncluttered pages devoted to one rhyme, and humorous commentary -- like the editor’s note on the laughing dog in High Diddle Diddle: “It must have been a little dog that laugh’d, for a great dog would be ashamed to laugh at such nonsense.”
