The Details:

William Cook, author and illustrator. Five poetry booklets and broadsides. Salem, Massachusetts, 1852-1876. [catalog record]

Gift of Charles Henry Taylor, 1915-1932.

The Story:

Among Charles Henry Taylor’s manifold collecting interests were works written and printed by William Cook.  Between 1852 and 1876, Cook laboriously produced over forty poetry pamphlets and broadsides. He was an eccentric folk artist and was a much-loved Salem fixture. Taylor succeeded in acquiring a nearly complete set of his work for AAS.
