Purchased with funds donated by Charles Henry Taylor, 1933-1934.
The Story:
It is to the credit of both Charles Henry Taylor and Clarence S. Brigham, that this ephemeral material, stored in the family’s attic, was preserved as part of the D.C. Johnston archive. An assortment of job work, pull-tab political cartoons, and impressions of Johnston’s first attempt at engraving, along with the artist’s magnifying lens (or loupe), his papers, proof printings, and original copperplates were found in a trunk by a thorough Brigham.
