Charles Evans’s American Bibliography gives this work the distinction of being the first book printed in a native language in Boston. A collection of sermons given by Increase Mather, the text is titled Greatest Sinners Exhorted and Encouraged to Come to Christ. The translation of the text into Algonquian is attributed to Samuel Danforth. Danforth also authored a dictionary of the Algonquian language (likely compiled through reference to the Algonquian Bible) that resides in the collection of the Massachusetts Historical Society.
