Gift of Thomas W. Streeter, ca. 1955.

The Story:

In 1955, during his final year as AAS president, Thomas W. Streeter augmented the 1950 gift of his transportation collection with nearly 200 additional imprints relating to American railroads. Among them was this small handbill promoting the use of Wheeling, [West] Virginia as a transportation hub. From Wheeling, goods could be forwarded by steamboat to “the interior” at Cincinnati, Louisville, Nashville, and St. Louis.
