The Details:

Louis Prang & Co. Cloisonné Vase. New York: D. Appleton & Co., 1896-1897. [catalog record]

Gift of Charles Henry Taylor, 1924-1925.

The Story:

This chromolithograph employs a complex multi-stone process and was prepared for the famed ten volume set Oriental Ceramic Art. This impression is an office copy retained in the Louis Prang & Co. archive. When the archive was dispersed in the 1920s, Charles Henry Taylor acquired a portion and donated it to AAS.  The gift included loose prints and sixty bound volumes of Prang salesmen’s sample and proof books.
