This exhibition features materials from the American Antiquarian Society and The New York Public Library’s Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture. Curation was a collaboration among Brenna Bychowski (AAS cataloger, North American Imprints Program), Sylviane A. Diouf (director of the Lapidus Center for the Historical Analysis of Transatlantic Slavery at the Schomburg Center), Molly O’Hagan Hardy (AAS digital humanities director), and Alicia Murphy (AAS assistant cataloger).
