Teacher workshop and selected manuscripts - James David Moran, director of outreach, organizes thematic workshops for teachers where they learn from scholars and by analyzing documents in the Society’s collections. A group of related letters [record] written by Ralph Waldo Emerson, Henry David Thoreau, and Frederick Douglass elicited an enthusiastic and unexpectedly moving response. Teachers attending workshops received lesson plans, facsimiles and transcriptions of documents such as these for their own classroom use.
