Calvin Coolidge chairing a meeting of the Society - When Calvin Coolidge retired as president of the United States, he accepted election as president of the Council of the American Antiquarian Society. He reportedly observed that by serving the Society by chairing its meetings, he continued to be addressed as President Coolidge.
