Label from Centennial Exhibition - The Society loaned Isaiah Thomas’s press to the Campbell Printing Press and Manufacturing Company for display at the Centennial Exhibition in Philadelphia in 1876. This mutilated label is all that remains of the identification affixed to Thomas’s press, which was displayed alongside new equipment in a building adjacent to Machinery Hall.  The press was shown in a complete newspaper office of 1876 where the steps involved in the production of a newspaper—using Campbell’s printing, rotary, and folding machines—were demonstrated. Label dimensions: 29 x 14 cm. Exhibit of a Centenarian Press and Printing Office of the Campbell Press and Manufacturing Co. (Philadelphia: Campbell Printing Press and Mfg. Co., 1876).
