"The Strong Fast"

The Strong Fast (Boston: Nathaniel Coverly, Jr., [1812]). Courtesy John Hay Library, Brown University. The relief cut of the fashionable dog in a full dress suit orating from a wine barrel adds to the mockery of this broadside. Gouges made by the chisels used to create the cut can be seen at the top and left side of the image.
