 <p>TO die's the common lot of all<lb />
 Of <name type ="religious">Adam's</name> numerous race ;<lb />
But some for crimes are doom'd to die<lb />
 Examples of disgrace.<lb /></p>

<p>But when we know the time draws near<lb />
That the must surely die,<lb />
 We can't refrain a secret tear,<lb />
 We raise a mournful sigh.<lb /></p>

 <p>The time draws near, the moment's short,<lb />
The hours are almost fled,<lb />
 When <name type="historical">Tully </name>and poor <name type="historical">Dalton </name>will<lb />
 Be number'd with the dead.<lb /></p>

 <p>Oh ! that they may then be prepar'd<lb />
To meet their awful doom :---<lb />
The dye is cast---their race near run---<lb />
Their sun will set at noon.<lb /></p>

<p>When to the fatal spot are brought,<lb />
Extended in the air ;<lb />
 Oh ! that they may <name type ="religious">GOD's </name>mercy find,<lb />
Is our most ardent pray'r.<lb /></p>

<p>Behold them on the verge of life---<lb />
Stand trembling for the time,<lb />
When they must stand before their Judge,<lb />
To answer for each crime.<lb /></p>

  <p>Their wickedness is horrid great--<lb />
Theft and vile Murder too ;<lb />
And for these crimes they are condemn'd,<lb />
And death is just their due.<lb /></p>

<p>He that sheds the blood of man,<lb />
  The great <name type ="religious">Jehovah </name>said,<lb />
In part to compensate the crime,<lb />
His blood shall sure be shed.<lb /></p>

  <p>Ye fellow mortals, there behold<lb />
  Them on a gallows high---<lb />
See the reward of wickedness ;<lb />
  For that they're judg'd to die.<lb /></p>

  <p>They that indulge themselves in sin,<lb />
  The holy scriptures faith,<lb />
They don't live out one half their days---<lb />
The fruit of sin is death.<lb /></p>

  <p>Had but these poor unhappy men,<lb />
  Avoided every crime,<lb />
Their days on earth perhaps might be<lb />
  Spar'd a much longer time.<lb /></p>

<p>But now alas! the day is fix'd---<lb />
The dreadful hour draws nigh,<lb />
When thousands will with grief them <unclear>se</unclear><lb />
  Launch'd in eternity.<lb /></p>

  <p>And when the final moment's come,<lb />
Their time for ever end,<lb />
  May they a joyful sentence hear,<lb />
  And <name type ="religious">JESUS </name>be their friend.<lb /></p>

  <p>Oh ! may they pard'ning mercy find,<lb />
  Heav'n open to their view,<lb />
  And join to praise a <name type ="religious">GOD </name>of love,<lb />
  With <name type="historical">Campbell </name>whom they slew.<lb /></p>

<p>This is the wish, the sincere wish,<lb />
  Of ev'ry pious mind,<lb />
That they may by the grace of <name type ="religious">GOD</name>,<lb />
  His saving mercy find.<lb /></p>

  <p>December 7th, 1812.<lb /></p>
