the Staffordshire Pottery of John Ridgway at the American Antiquarian Society

About this Resource:

Pictured below are the twenty-two pieces of Ridgway pottery which are part of the Society’s Emma DeForest Morse Collection of American Historical Pottery. Of these twenty-two, twenty corresponding prints have been identified and reproduced here with links to the AAS catalog records; there are also multiple views of the plates [front, verso, plate marking and alternate views of the tureen, dish and sauce boat]

This site also offers: a "previous" and "next" navigation tool so viewers can follow, from North to South, Ridgway's selected views, an in-depth introduction to Ridgway's journey by Ruth Ann Penka, maps noting the plates in selected locations, a bibliography and photographs of Penka's 2010 talk on the project
