Biographical Sketch of the Life of Andrew Jackson, Major-General of the Armies of the United States, the Hero of New-Orleans

Description

The title page of Biographical Sketch of the Life of Andrew Jackson is dated 1828, which squares with the description in the text of Jackson and "the important relation in which he now stands to the American people, as a candidate for the splendid office of their Chief Magistrate." (p. [v]). However, the William C. Cook Jacksonian Era Collection copy now at AAS has a date of 1830 on the cover. (The New York Public Library has the only other recorded copy of this biography with a cover imprint dated 1830.) Perhaps it was being reissued as the first campaign biography for Jackson's re-election campaign?
